The Cobbler (2)

February 24th 2010

The Cobbler is a Corbett of 884 m in height located near the head of Loch Long in Scotland. The mountain is the most spectacular, although by no means the highest of the so-called Arrochar Alps, due to its distinctive, large rocky summit features which are supposed to represent a cobbler bending over his last. It’s correct name is Ben Arthur.
Our B&B, Ben Bheula, was positioned just at the start of the walk up The Cobbler from Arrochar and, with the weather being so fabulous, we decided to get at least part way up as the snow on the summit rocks made it too dangerous to finish the climb without crampons.
Sheila ducked out part way up and trecked down into Ardgarten but I continued up until the hidden rocky summit appeared. I was rewarded with this fabulous view for my efforts.
