Langdale Pikes and Side Pike from Blea Tarn, Little Langdale
April 15th 2004
Blea Tarn lies at the top of the pass between Dungeon Ghyll at the head of Great Langdale, and Fell Foot Farm at the head of Little Langdale. The road to it is steep and narrow.
The tarn used to be surrounded by rhododendrons but these have now been cut back. Whilst this is a pity, it has improved access to the water’s edge which was becoming overrun by this fast-growing shrub. On a perfect day, the reflections of the Langdale Pikes and Side Pike in the water are fantastic.
