Memories on the Wall
Morning Mist, Buttermere
February 25th 2008
This was a bitterly cold day even though as you can see from the shot the sun was shining. A thin layer of ice was still coating Buttermere when I arrived early one February morning. There are a few trees around the northern end of Buttermere and this one was silhouetted perfectly against the clear blue sky. I wanted to still get more detail in the foreground of the image so I used a 0.6 ND grad to allow me to capture this detail. I like the composition of this photograph and the way there is some mystery around Fleetwith Pike in the distance.
Technical details
Canon EOS 5D, canon L series 24–105mm lens, 1/100 sec @ f16, ISO200, 0.6 ND Grad
