Yewbarrow, Gt. Gable, Lingmell and the Scafell Massif

December 24th 2008

This view was recently voted as ‘Britain’s Favourite View’ by viewers of the TV program of the same name.  I think this is one of the Lake District’s most dramatic areas as well as being one of my favourites. No matter how many times I visit Wasdale and Wastwater it never looks the same. With Wastwater being the deepest lake in the Lake District you always get that deep blue colour which then contrasts against the three fells that rise up so dramatically above it. I wanted to get this shot after snow had fallen so that the fell tops would stand out against a back drop of blue sky. Yewbarrow is free of snow but the Scafell Massif and Great Gable are picked out beautifully.
