Sand dunes at Camusdarach Beach

January 7th 2009

Well here it was at last the famous Camusdarach Beach made famous by the film Local Hero. This was the beach that we’d come for and it certainly wasn’t a disappointment.
The beach is hidden from view by sand dunes which you have to walk through to reach it. The tide had just turned leaving the edge of the water covered in tiny pieces of coral and small sea shells which fascinated Sheila for hours as I wandered along the inter-linked small beaches taking shots across to Eigg and Rum. How time flew - hours had gone by before we noticed. The simple pleasures can often be the best. The only disappointments were that Ben’s shed had been taken away and that the church was really just a mock-up around the white house in the background.
