December mists over Loch Sheil
January 8th 2009
This is a shot I took of Loch Sheil without the Glenfinnan monument on this special day. It shows the mist and the frozen loch better than the other images in the series with the sunset being reflected in the loch. We were just returning from a trip to Mallaig when we past the Glenfinnan monument. It was one of the most spectacular sights I’ve ever seen. The sun had just set and the mist was just starting to appear above Loch Sheil. The frost was still on the trees and the loch was frozen in many areas around the shore. The small island close to the loch was also covered with frost which gave a fantastic back drop to the image. This has got to be one of the most dramatic places I’ve photographed and one that I will hopefully return to in the not to distant future.
