Derwentwater from Castlehead

August 25th 2007

This is a panoramic view of Derwentwater and its surrounding fells that can be enjoyed with very little effort. It’s definitely worth the short walk from the Borrowdale road to the top of Castlehead, a low wooded hill just south of Keswick. A small gate gives you access to the woods from where you can take a variety of paths up to the rocky summit; an ideal picnic spot.
I love this shot as it gives you a stunning view down the length of the lake to Borrowdale and Castle Crag and across to Catbells, Maiden Moor, High Spy and Dalehead. Causey Pike can also be seen on the right.
