Memories on the Wall
Winter climb on Helvellyn
April 8th 2008
I went up Helvellyn to get some shots of snow on Striding Edge. I was just having lunch and deep in conversation with my fellow fellwalkers when all of a sudden someone appeared out of nowhere climbing up the cliffs alongside Striding Edge. Whilst everyone else was scrabbling about for their cameras, I quickly fired off a couple of shots before he reached the top of the overhang. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! My lunch companions were amazed and said, ‘Blimey, you must be a photographer to have got that shot!‘. I felt like pointing them towards the Top Tips on my website but resisited the temptation. It isn’t good to be too smug.
