We were returning along the coast to our timber lodge near Keswick after a trip to Wasdale Head. As usual, we’d left it very late to return and the sun was starting to go down. The sunset was so fantastic that I made a quick detour to St.Bees Head, one of our family’s favourite places for a day out. The beach and rock pools there are a great place for children (and adults picking winkles) and there are some lovely walks along the cliff top nature reserve to Fleswick Cove and the lighthouse.
This was definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time.
