I took this image by the little bridge below Aira Force whilst on a short walk along the river from Dockray to the lake side at Ullswater. It was one of those days when it rained as soon as you took off your jacket and the sun came out as soon as you put it on again. Heavy rain the night before had guaranteed that the waterfall would be at its most spectacular.
After a sudden shower, I waited on some rocks just to the side of the bridge for twenty minutes until the sun decided to appear again. It was worth the wait, as the sunlight reflected against the spray caused a beautiful rainbow to appear. It was gone as quickly as it came and it wasn’t long before the rain came down again and I went off home to dry my feet.

Canon EOS 20D, Canon 24-85mm lens, 1/60 sec @ f/5.6, ISO 200, no filter
