Misty Morning at Bassenthwaite

May 22nd 2004

Bassenthwaite Lake lies only ten minutes from our timber lodge near Keswick so this is a great place for me to get really early morning shots.
I took this image at dawn from one of the jetties at Bassenthwaite Sailing Club on the northern shore of the lake near Armathwaite Hall. The little boat is the sailing club’s rescue boat which I’ve seen in action often at the famous Bass Week regatta held there each summer.  The fell seen behind is Dodd. In amongst the woods there is a viewing point which over 90,000 people visited to see the ospreys in the summer of 2007.
