Memories on the Wall
Looking down towards Wasdale Head, Wastwater
July 18th 2007
I took this image on a family trip out to Wastwater. My eldest daughter and her partner had come down from London to stay at our timber lodge in Keswick for a few days and had never previously ventured this far out. We walked from where the road from Gosforth hits the Lake down to the Wasdale Head Inn where we sat outside whilst some of us had a couple of pints in the sun (not me unfortunately as I was driving). My wife was not best pleased when the barman refused to serve her with a bitter shandy as he said that it was an outrage against his real ale which was brewed on the premises.
The reflections of Yewbarrow, Great Gable, Lingmell and the Scafell Massif in the lake were fabulous on this hot, still day and I was not surprised to see that this was named as Britain’s Favourite View later on in the year.
