Memories on the Wall
Footpath through Dodd Wood, Bassenthwaite
October 10th 2005
I set off for a walk from Dodd Wood car park near Bassenthwaite with my wife and daughter early one autumn morning. The air was crisp but a blanket of mist hung heavy over the trees. An odd glimpse of blue sky promised a fine, sunny day ahead. As we walked along the path shafts of sunlight began to fall to earth through the trees lighting up the damp autumn foliage. I managed a few quick shots before the shafts quickly disappeared and the sun broke through.
What I most like about this shot is the way that the footpath curves away into the distance so that you can’t see where it goes to. It’s always nice to leave something to the imagination and allow someone to create their own journey either real or imagined.
