Evening Light on Derwentwater

April 7th 2005

We were walking around Derwentwater just before sunset heading towards Ashness Gate to pick up the last ferry. It was bitterly cold and there was snow on Catbells, Maiden Moor and the other fell tops. Suddenly, a shaft of sunlight shone out from between the clouds and hit the lake. With my camera ready in hand, I quickly fired off a few shots before the moment was gone. This is a very popular image with visitors to my Keswick shows as it reminds them of the beautiful scenery down the Borrowdale Valley.
