Memories on the Wall
Blea Tarn Little Langdale
October 26th 2004
Blea Tarn lies at the top of the pass between Dungeon Ghyll at the head of Great Langdale, and Fell Foot Farm at the head of Little Langdale. The road to it is steep and narrow. Just before you arrive at the tarn you will find Blea Tarn House another great photo opportunity in the area.
The tarn used to be surrounded by rhododendrons but these have now been cut back. Whilst this is a pity, it has improved access to the water’s edge which was becoming overrun by this fast-growing shrub. On a perfect day, the reflections of the Langdale Pikes in the water are fantastic. This coupled with the autumn colours in this image make it a really special place to photograph. This is an area that I really love and I plan to return to take more images as soon as I have the time.
