Location: Castle Head is a small hill on the eastern side of the Borrowdale Road betwen Keswick and Ashness Gate.
If you climb Castlehead in Borrowdale on a calm clear day you are sure of views like this over the Derwentwater fells. Catbells stands out because of it’s recognisable shape which is reflected in the stillness of Derwentwater. This is one of the most climbed fells around Keswick and when the summit is achieved it affords great views of not only Derwentwater but of the Newlands Valley to the south as well. I took this shot on a very cold winters day when a layer of ice was on Derwentwater.
