Collection: Ullswater & Haweswater
Many regard Ullswater as the most beautiful of the English lakes. Its attractions include the Ullswater Steamers which offer trips around the lake.
Haweswater is a reservoir and is the most easterly of the lakes. In 1929 Parliament authorised the use of Haweswater as a reservoir for Manchester. A concrete dam was built which raised the lake level by 95 feet drowning the villages of Mardale and Measland. The remains of Mardale can still be seen in times of drought when the water level is low.
