Shoot Locations
Waterhead Pier
OS grid reference NY 376-032
Windermere Lake ends a mile short of Ambleside at Waterhead. Steamers and launches sail daily throughout the year between the pier here and Bowness. The sunsets here can be particularly spectacular.
Getting there
From the A591 at Waterhead, Windermere take the left fork at the traffic lights onto the A5075. After a couple of hundred yards there is a pay & display car park on the right.
What to Shoot
There are lots of boats, ducks, swans and jetties and even more people! However, on a cold winter’s evening there can be some fabulous sunsets. The silhouettes of boats in the foreground with the Langdale pikes in the background makes for a really great image, particularly if you have a pink or red sunset to set it off.
